1.
Man that is born of a woman has but a short time to live and is full of misery. He comes up and is cut down; much like a flower in spring that blooms and then is gone. He flees, he flees, as he were a shadow; He flees, he flees, as he were a spark; He blooms for a time then the wind Blows him away… All flesh is like grass. He is but a breath, his days are like a shadow. He's of yesterday and not tomorrow, tomorrow. All his years seem long and scatter in the breeze. All his sorrow fleeting memory.
2.
Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy on us. Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy on us. Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy on us. In the day of our distress, oh Lord, shall we see you? In our hearts we wait for you; oh Lord, shall we hear you? In the night our hands are raised; oh Lord, shall we know you?
3.
Lord, I know you are the Christ; you are the Son of God. All who believe in you will rise; oh, but we have to wait so long! On the last day, we’ll see them again; those we have lost are found. Yes, I believe, I say “amen”, oh but the grave has me bound. You are the resurrection; you alone are our life. Take all we’ve lost into your protection, O Giver of life! O Giver of life! O Giver of life! All who live and believe shall live, although they die; Even this one whom we grieve; Lord, keep them always in your eye! When your day comes, your endless dawn, all we have lost will rise. Death, by your dying, overcome; Lord, do you hear all our cries? Lord, I know you are the Christ; you are the Son of God. All who believe in you will rise, oh, but we have to wait so long!
4.
Holy, holy Lord, God of pow’r and might; heav’n and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna, hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna! Hosanna!
5.
Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, have mercy. Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, have mercy. Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, grant us peace, grant us peace.
6.
We raise our hymn to you, O God in Zion; Fulfill our vows to you in Jerusalem. There to your throne all flesh must come When day turns into night; Let us find rest in perpetual light. The just, O God, shall never be forgotten; Who trust in you, O Lord, their hearts are firm. Mercy and grace, you give to them, Who in your love abide; Let them find rest in perpetual light.
7.
Mercy, Jesus, grant your rest, to sinners come to sleep in you. None deserving to be blest, but mercy do they seek in you. Weeping, we come to you on that last day; Spare us, we beg of you, on that last day! Rest eternal, give them, Lord, that none can find except in you. None have earned this last reward, but in this hope, we cling to you. Grant us, Jesus, lasting peace, and peaceful hearts that sing to you. Mercy, when our breath has ceased, and souls' delight in seeing you.
8.
Deliver me, O Lord, and let me not be taken Out of your hand, nail-bored, When all heaven and earth are shaken; When all heaven and earth are shaken. Free me from endless death, O Christ, I shake and tremble, And I hold my every breath; Oh, your promise, my God, remember; Oh, your promise, my God, remember. Remember me, O Lord! Remember me, O Lord! Remember me, O Lord! Remember me! When, Lord, you come again to judge the world with justice Your fires will rain down on men; All your anger, O Lord, and judgment; All your anger, O Lord, and judgment. Deliver me, O Lord! Deliver me, O Lord! Deliver me, O Lord! Deliver me! Then, Lord, deliver me, and let me not be taken; Let mercy set me free When all heaven and earth are shaken; When all heaven and earth are shaken. Deliver me, O Lord! Deliver me, O Lord! Deliver me, O Lord! Deliver me!
9.
May angels take you by the hand And lead you to the throne; Where all the saints and martyrs stand, Jerusalem, your home. Jerusalem, your home! Jerusalem your home! O may you rest in paradise, Forever by the side of Christ. We walk the bitter valley here, where sorrow has no end, but in our struggle still we hear, "Be still, and know I AM." This world is not our home, this world is not our home. Our resurrection and our life we find at last in Jesus Christ. All glory be to God on high, The Father and the Son, Who came to open paradise, With God the Spirit, one. The Lamb shall lead us home! The Lamb shall lead us home! To share his ever, glorious light; All praises be to Jesus Christ. To share his ever, glorious light; All praises be to Jesus Christ. All praises be to Jesus.

Postlude 03:06

about

This record was written during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, and started during lockdown in March of 2020. The purpose is to honor those that have died, but also to help those living who grieve loved ones. Many were unable to hold a regular funeral or memorial service, so this record is a way to bring a funeral service to them. "We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come."
